He’s got one of the most instantly-recognisable voices in the world even if, strictly speaking, it’s not really his. But, given the chance, who wouldn’t fancy trying out someone else’s?

And legendary physicist Professor Stephen Hawking has decided to enlist the help of Comic Relief to audition people to replace his famous voice, which he’s had for 30 years.

The clip below, released as Comic Relief kicks off – with coverage on BBC One tonight from 7pm – sees the likes of Liam Neeson, Anna Kendrick, Stephen Fry, Eddie Redmayne and Rebel Wilson all put themselves forward for the part. But who will get the gig? Have a watch below to find out.

Professor Hawking said: “I felt it was time for a voice upgrade so I asked Comic Relief to help me out – I probably shouldn’t have bothered, as these celebrities are a right bunch of jokers. I’m pretty happy with my new voice though, I think it’ll give my lectures a bit more oomph.’

Fair play Prof, also props on your excellent choice of reading matter on your shelves at home.
