Rip-roaring First Trailer For FOX's Lucifer

Lucifer.jpg

Better the Devil you know? You’ll certainly want an introduction to Lucifer, a new FOX TV show adapted from the DC comic book series and starring Brit Tom Ellis as the titular Prince of Darkness with a difference.

Uniting the holy trinity of Warner Bros. TV, DC Comics and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, the series imagines a world in which Lucifer swaps the underworld for the city of Angels. Has hell really frozen over? Not exactly, he just fancies a move to glossy LA where he can settle down and drive around in a sports car bearing a novelty licence plate (FALLEN1); you know, in case someone forgets he’s THE DEVIL. Naturally, it isn't too long before he’s up to his old tricks and all hell breaks loose. Literally.

First introduced to Vertigo Comics in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, before moving to a stand-alone series, it’s a risky TV series to launch but on the basis of this first trailer, FOX could well have nailed it – particularly with the choice casting of the rakish Ellis, joining a burgeoning list of well-spoken Brits currently heading up blockbuster TV shows Stateside and, in this image at least, looking a bit like a cut-price Bradley Cooper with severe glaucoma.

Move over Daredevil – the real deal has arrived.

Lucifer hits screens later this year
