Jude Law plays with fire in the first trailer for The Young Pope

Is Jude Law a fantastic actor? Is the Pope a Catholic?

For Sky Atlantic’s forthcoming and remarkably lavish miniseries The Young Pope, the respective answers would appear to be yes, and not quite…

Directed by Paolo Sorrentino (he behind Oscar winning The Great Beauty), Law plays Lenny Belardo, the first American pontiff, who, we might add, is anything but free from sin: chain-smoking, philandering and turning a blind eye to many of the sins of the world, he appears to be something of an anti-hero as his haunted past threatens to catch up with him.

While the Vatican may think otherwise, this series sure has our blessing.

The Young Pope will be on Sky Atlantic from Thursday 27 October
