A spectacle of entertainment played out last night, drawing millions to their television screens, clutching at their scatter cushions and shouting in elation. Yep, the BBC finally released a full trailer for series eight of Doctor Who.

Amidst the chaos that ranges from dinosaurs in London to spectacular space battles (and Daleks, obviously), Peter Capaldi's Doctor appears to be a more stern, sorrowful character than recent iterations of the time lord. Jenna Coleman returns as assistant Clara Oswald, though her adventures through time don't appear that "fun" from the montage of action on show.
We can't wait to see this darker take on the series - but we'll have to. Clear your diary for 23 August and be sure to clear some room behind your sofas.
