25 Years Of Simpsons Couch Gags In One Video

simpsons.jpg

A quarter of a century is an awful long time in Springfield. Not long enough for Bart to graduate elementary school but certainly long enough to see a dramatic evolution in the now legendary couch gag.

Homer, Marge, Maggie, Lisa and Bart have been dashing for their beloved sofa for going on three decades now. And thanks to this haunting video, containing every single couch gag of 554 episodes of The Simpsons, you can see how it’s evolved from a quick cutaway into something else entirely.

It’s no coincidence that the screen flashes to black much quicker up top in the primitive episodes where it does the later episodes which appear to push the couch gag to frighteningly sophisticated levels.

Check it out below. Though we warn you: watching this montage of miniature screens may feel as if your life is flashing before your eyes…
