The best of comic relief

rednose.jpg

Red Nose Day is all about donating money to those who need it more than we do. But in order to get us to be charitable and decent, we're also given an absurd amount of comedians desperate to impress us with their wit.

Aside from all of the baked bean-filled baths and sponsored funny hat days, the odd sketch has stuck in our memory long enough to offer up some cash, in-between all of the laughing.

Vic and Bob Attempt 75 Pints and 1 Song (1995)

Probably one of the most childish Comic Relief moments yet also one of the funniest, we saw Reeves and Mortimer attempt to sing Without You while drinking 75 pints of ale. It all went predictably pear-shaped and yes, a frying pan was used.

Alan Partridge Interviews The Milky Bar Kid (2005)

Some depressing home truths here from the grown-up Milky Bar Kid (played by Simon Pegg) who reveals his past of drugs and whoring to a rather bemused Alan Partridge. It's all a bit too much for the light entertainment god who panics as he tries to keep it all upbeat. And fails.

Ricky Gervais 'goes' to Kenya (2007)

Ridiculing the Red Nose Day interludes where celebrities head to a third world country and tell us all how awful it is and how bad we should feel, Ricky Gervais starred in this spoof ad where it's revealed that Kenya is actually a set and the poverty-stricken guy he's talking to is actually Bono.
