Skateboarders Take Over An International Airport

Remember the joys of skating your way across the airport level on Tony Hawks: Pro Skater 3, grinding across the baggage carousel to unlock a bonus? Yeah, well now some pro skaters have done it in real life.

In fact the only controllers needed for this astonishing video shoot were of the air-traffic variety, as Helsinki International airport lowered its security to let loose some of the world’s best skaters on its tarmac and air hangers.

For Match Made In Hel, skater-cum-photographer Arto Saari assembled a crack team of skaters for the project, all decamping en masse to hit some cleverly set up ramps and rails among jumbo jets and the like, before taking matters inside the terminal to perform tricks alongside doubtlessly bemused duty free shoppers.

Watch it until the end and you’ll also be treated to some first-rate photography of the project, which really will make you pine to play Tony Hawks once more.

It certainly puts a new spin on the phrase 'air-time'.
