NFL Star Fined $10K For Wearing Beats Headphones

NGL.jpg
They say all publicity is good publicity. Well, ‘they’ clearly aren’t working for the NFL.

In a tumultuous month for the US football franchise - which as recently as last week saw a former exec claim the league covered up hundreds of domestic abuse cases – it has now fined San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick $10,000.

For punching a rival player? For flipping the bird in the direction of a disgruntled fan? No, for wearing Beats headphones during a press conference on Sunday, and violating a ban on players wearing that particular brand on camera due to the fact the league signed an exclusive deal with Bose recently.

The star quarterback has since responded by saying he wore the pink headphones to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness since his grandmother is a survivor of the disease. Though whatever the reason, the fiscal punishment appears to be a coarsely timed and ill-thought out considering the fan backlash to the shady politics which have recently dogged the league’s money-men.

That goes for the sponsors, too. Some major corporations such as Budweiser and PepsiCo have voiced their own concerns about the current state of the “moral code” in the NFL, suggesting they might cut ties with the football league if nothing has changed.

We can't imagine this helping anybody. Well, not unless you're Dr Dre.
