Fans have used it for years to check up on new signings to their clubs, but now it's official: real life football scouts are going to use Football Manager stats to find new talent.

FM has announced that it has come to an agreement with performance analysis firm Prozone that will see its worldwide database of player information added to Prozone's Recruiter tool, which is already in operation by many top clubs around the world.

The FM database contains 250 pieces of biographical, positional and contractual information on all of its 550,000 players, managers and backroom staff, put together by its network of 1300 scouts; this will be added to Prozone's performance data to create the ultimate, foolproof tool.

Miles Jacobson, studio director of Sports Interactive, which makes the FM series commented, “For years we’ve heard stories of real-life managers and scouts using our data to help with the recruitment process...from now on, it’s official…real managers around the world will be finding and comparing players using data and a search system that will be very familiar to players of Football Manager."

While FM's database is now incredibly accurate, we're secretly hoping that someone will, once again, pay way over the odds for an Ibrahima Bakayoko, Nii Lamptey or Cherno Samba, purely because they were good on FM.
