EXCLUSIVE: Zinedine Zidane's all-time Premier League XI

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has just picked a starting XI exclusively for ShortList.

Not out of the superstars under his guidance at The Bernabau, you understand (turns out they aren’t free for 8-a-side games on Friday lunchtimes), but rather an all-time XI of Premier League players.

And why not? After recently telling us of his love for the English game, along with his admiration for Leicester City’s underdog heroics this season, we decided to see just how deep his love for our domestic game went - and he’s not let us down, picking one hell of a team.

Opting for a solid (if Manchester United heavy) 4-4-2, from excellent foreign imports and a good dose of home-grown talent - Gary Neville, Ashley Cole, Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard (who he even let slip he once tried to persuade Real Madrid bosses to sign) included, it’s a touching tribute to some of the best players to grace the league.

Diplomatically, there’s even room up front for Cristiano Ronaldo, now of course playing under the Frenchman for Real Madrid.

This lot would take some beating.
