EXCLUSIVE: Gianluigi Buffon's current Premier League XI

What could you do in 973 minutes?

Write a play? Watch the Star Wars prequels without falling asleep? Big deal.

How about breaking the Serie A record for consecutive minutes without letting a goal – a feat Juventus shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon accomplished yesterday, just adding to his legendary status? That's more like it.

For all the hoo-hah over Lionel Messi possibly being the greatest forward of all-time, it speaks volumes that the only other current player in the game who could rightfully claim to be the best of all-time in their respective position is Buffon.

He wouldn’t of course. After breaking the Serie A record for consecutive minutes yesterday (973 minutes) the 38-year-old World Cup winner humbly thanked his teammates before posting an open letter to the goal he defends (really - you can read it here).

A titan between the posts, a gentleman away from them, last week we caught up with the Italian force of nature to ask him for his current Premier League XI (injuries notwithstanding) - and here it is, in all its 4-3-3 glory:
