Watch Young Kanye West Rap With His Mother

Forget the ego for one moment. Put aside the outlandish statements, the relentless self-promotion and occasional abandonment of self-control.

Kanye West is an immensely talented musician whose rise to the top is owed in part to a very special, well-documented relationship with this mother, Donda.

After raw footage of a 19-year-old Kanye rapping emerged last year, another intimate glimpse into the rapper's formative years have been unearthed - this time by researchers at MTV, chronicling the production of Late Registration. The grainy home video shows Kanye rapping through the track Hey, Mama with his mother Donda.

A poignant watch, it's refreshing to see an altogether grounded side to Kanye.
