The ShortListen: Whyte Horses (no. 357)

Psychedelic fun from up-and-coming Manchester band

The ShortListen: Whyte Horses (no. 357)
27 July 2016

Who? Whyte Horses

What’s the story? Manchester is always up for a mysterious collective - anyone remember Wu Lyf? - and there's an excellent new one in town, in the form of Whyte Horses. Led by Dom Thomas from Finders Keepers, their endlessly inventive debut album Pop Or Not, released in May earlier this year, was something of a hidden treasure. Now, they've unveiled this new video for album highlight Promise I Do which gives another chance to enjoy the tune. Produced by Ian Parton from the Go! Team, there's more than a hint of their breakbeat fun, while Dom's vocals remind us of Jez Williams from Doves - yet another legendary Manc act. Meanwhile, the band have announced a very special hometown show on 26 November at The Dancehouse - if you're in the area, get down and see what it's all about.

For fans of: The Go! Team, The Avalanches, Doves

In three words: Psychedelic pop fun
