The ShortListen: Mura Masa ft. Shura (no. 178)

Who? Mura Masa feat. Shura

What’s the story? We've been a fan of Shura for a while, and by guesting on this track, she's led us into the fascinating world of 19 year-old Guensey artist Mura Masa. Big on soundcloud and with Diplo and super-producer amongst his fans, he's been building quite the groundswell of underground blog and radio support. This song perfectly showcases his command of interesting textures and dynamics, with a winning combination of folk instruments and modern production techniques. Shura's vocal floats perfectly on top, giving it her very best Janet Jackson impression on the 'it's all for you' line. Interesting, distinctive - and just a really cool song.

For fans of: Jai Paul, Janet Jackson, Jack Garratt

In three words: Texture mashup fun
