Who? Biffy Clyro

What’s the story? Biffy are back, with the first track from their upcoming seventh album, Ellipsis, and fans will have been wondering where they were possibly going to go after the all-over-the-place sensory bombardment of 2013 double album Opposites. While we can only guess how the album will sound, Wolves of Winter offers everything that a Biffy-lover could possibly ask for. The usual obtuse lyrics, strange time signatures, big riffs, jarring changes of dynamic and sweet hooks all thrown together in the way that only the Biff can make work so well. There's a change of producer this time around, with Rich Costey replacing Garth Richardson in the hotseat after three records, and there's already a hint at a slight sonic expansion - and a move away from a Foo Fighters sound back to their old weirdness - which will be fascinating to hear on a full record. Welcome back guys.

For fans of: Well, Biffy Clyro

In three words: Weirdly rocking return
