The Maccabees tore the roof off Corsica Studios for the second Shortlist Sessions

If you headed down to ShortList’s surprise gig last night you would have seen three things: queues a mile long, one very small stage and lots of very sweaty people.

Corsica Studios isn’t as big as you think it is which, coincidentally, makes for excellent crowd surfing (as one young gentlemen can attest to). In their beloved Elephant and Castle, The Maccabees smashed through hits new (Marks to Prove It) and old (Pelican), and then it was our turn: collectively shouting ‘Happy Birthday’ at bass guitarist Rupert Jarvis.

“Now that’s a crowd,” said fellow guitarist Felix. We couldn’t agree more. Who’s ready for the next one?
