Listen To Catch The Throne Mixtape Vol 2

thrones1.jpg

Forget Kanye West facing off against Foo Fighters at Glastonbury, the most eclectic bag of musical buttons you'll find in 2015 has been assembled by the HBO hype machine.

In anticipation of the launch of season five of Game of Thrones on 13 April, HBO has released Catch The Throne: The Mixtape, Volume 2.

Following the same promotional love-in of 2014's Volume 1, the new mixtape sees an even more varied ensemble than last year's hip hop-focused group rework the themes and scores of the show's soundtrack.

Artists featured on the 15 track release include Throne obsessives Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Anthranx, Mastadon and Mushroom Head, riffing on themes including the Night Watch's oath and white walkers.

You'll need to give this a dedicated session if you stand a chance of picking up all the references. Preferably huddled over a log fire, with winter hammering at wooden shutters. Or just on the bus.
