Full David Brent Album On The Way At Last

brent2.jpg

He stole our hearts ever since picking up an acoustic guitar that was 'just lying around' during a customer care staff training day and serenading us with instant classics.

And now, finally, a full album of David Brent standards will soon be yours to own.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that his Office character will be releasing a soundtrack record as part of the forthcoming Brent movie Life On The Road, which will feature Brent trying to raise cash to take his band, Foregone Conclusion, on tour. Gervais is writing and directing the film and revealed last year that he had written "all new tracks" for it.

Naturally, the as-yet-untitled masterpiece will be released on Juxtaposition Records. Brent, of course, was well ahead of the game when it came to the modern practice of self-releasing music, with his cover of If You Don't Know Me By Now also 'coming out' on the label in the last (Christmas special) episode of The Office.

Gervais wrote on his website: "Finished the shooting script for Life On The Road. Now that movie is 110 pages of pure joy. Delusion, desperation and excruciating social faux pas; all wrapped up in one little middle-aged rep on his continued quest for fame and acceptance."

Foregone Conclusion played for real last year at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London, with Gervais backed by a band including former Razorlight drummer and songwriter Andy Burrows, while the TV and film star famously began his career as manager of Suede. During those shows, he played a song called Slough, the demo of which was released last year and touted as a song that would be included on the soundtrack. It remains to be seen if it will make it in, but we really hope so - take a look at the outstanding video below and learn how to play it in the tutorial underneath.
