Exclusive Jose Gonzalez Track

Jose Gonzalez Portrait by Malin Johansson.jpeg
Jose Gonzalez - Vestiges & Claws.jpg

He rose to prominence with his famous cover of The Knife's Heartbeats and, since then, José González hasn't looked back, retaining a loyal worldwide following.

His latest album, Vestiges and Claws, his third longplayer, emerged to critical acclaim in February earlier this year and he takes one of the highlights, Open Book, to be his next single.

It's released on 8 June through Peacefrog Records and features a brand new version, which we're delighted to exclusively premiere here on ShortList.com. It sees the track recorded with New York-based chamber group yMusic, who specialise in the crossover between the pop and classical worlds. Having previously worked with the likes of Dirty Projectors, Beck and Ben Folds, they add a gorgeous new layer of strings to proceedings, making the track even better than it was before.

José plays a sold out show at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on Tuesday 28 May; for more information and other tour dates, head over to jose-gonzalez.com.
