Exclusive Axwell Λ Ingrosso Video Clips & Interview

axwellingrosso2.jpg

It's no exaggeration to say that Swedish House Mafia redefined the boundaries of popular dance music during their eight years together, releasing a string of hit tracks and playing huge shows across the globe.

Since their 2013 split, two of them, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, have reunited to team up for their Axwell Λ Ingrosso project, which looks sure to continue their run of success. They've only released one track so far, February's Something New, which is still bobbing about in the UK Top 40; now they ready a double followup in the shape of On My Way and Can't Hold Us Down, which form two parts of a truly epic new video.

The video sees the two DJs go head-to-head in a fight; we're delighted to exclusive premiere two small clips from the videos on ShortList.com, while Part I has just been released - watch them all below.

We also caught up with the guys to discuss naked music videos, being shown up by your friends and their favourite music vid of all time. Take a read and a watch below.

How difficult was it to learn the fighting moves?

"It was pretty difficult actually. Yeah, it was really difficult. It was four days with the ninja to learn how to master this craft of looking like you're getting hit! It was really difficult."

Did you accidentally hit each other for real?

"Yeah, yeah of course! Because they said - worst case - you have to hit each other, that's better than faking it too much, so we chose that direction. My shoulder is still messed up!"

Did you need to get in shape for the video?

"We are always in shape! You never know when you are gonna do a video and be naked, you have to always be ready for that!"

What are your favourite action movies, which gave you inspiration for it?

"For me, it must be early Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Lee stuff...also Rocky, of course!"

What was it like working with your mates?

"They are not so much in shape as us, so that it is, you know, why they are in the areas around us! For us, it's so much fun having our friends in the video, because that makes it like a fun, relaxed atmosphere, and we can do the most fun, relaxed job, that's what they help us with. Some of them are in really good shape and we chose not to show them, that would belittle us a little bit [laughs]."

What's been your favourite video of the year?

"I think that our video is my favourite, because we saw so many things that we didn't feel so much about - when we set out to do this video we were like: we want to make a video where we actually show something from us that people haven't seen before. Something that, if you like us you'd be like, 'Wow, I didn't know that they could do that' and if you do not like us you'd say, 'Oh actually I have to admit it's a cool video'. We wanted to do something more and for me, it's my favourite video of the year."

What's your favourite music video ever?

"I think it has to be Smack My Bitch Up by Prodigy. It was just so different when it came out, the energy and the whole thing, you really felt you were that person. And the song of course...it was so clever...it was amazing."

On My Way is unveiled on Thursday 12 March with the continuing video Can't Hold Us Down released on Friday 13 March. Axwell Λ Ingrosso play Alexandra Palace London June 6th
