9 reasons hip hop is dead

First, the good news: it's Friday.

Now, the bad news: Snoop Dogg is fronting the latest Money Supermarket campaign. The new ad, which will premiere over the weekend, will be yet another bizarre step for the once iconic rapper. But he's not alone. Many of our favourite hip hop stars have been making some, ahem, questionable decisions in recent years and we've assembled enough proof here to show that, sadly, the genre might well be dead. Or at least in a coma.

1. Dr Dre's Dr Pepper commercials

"Is there a doctor in the house?" - the most confusingly useless thing to shout on this particular shoot. Plenty of hands up but no actual help at hand.

2. Lupe Fiasco releasing a song with Ed Sheeran

The equivalent of your tattooist going for lunch with your nan. Sort of.

3. Snoop Dogg's AOL ad

Money Supermaket won't be Snoop's first marketing faux pas. Wait until the end and then bury your head in your handizzles.

4. Flavor Flav's romantic reality show Flavor Of Love

Remember when the crazy hats and the clocks around the neck were kind of cool? And now click play.

5. Method Man teaming up with Texas

From her "ahhs" to his "whaaaats", this still remains one of the most unbearable performances ever.

6. N.E.R.D being on GMTV

Nothing says hip hop like a performance introduced by Myleene Klass at 6am in the morning.

7. Common voicing a penguin called Seymour in Happy Feet

Common, taking on the role of a rapping penguin voiced by Fat Joe in the original. All true.

8. Master P on Dancing with the Stars

At least he gives it his all. Oh, wait actually....

9. MC Romeo's Confused.com advert

"It takes 21 seconds per quote, within 21 seconds you'll know, for insurance on the go, it's fast and never slow, it takes 21 seconds to get the info"
