Introducing Elsa Pataky

34-year-old Madrid-born Pataky made her name on Spanish TV before crossing over to multiplexes for Samuel L Jackson’s skin-crawling film Snakes On A Plane. Currently starring in Howard Marks biopic Mr Nice, she’s impeccable as Ilze — Marks’s first wife back in his schoolteaching days, before he discovers the “asexual orgasm” of driving a car-load of hashish across a national border. Next up for Pataky is Snowflake, The White Gorilla — about the albino ape of Barcelona Zoo fame — followed by Fast & Furious 5. Monkeys and cars? She can’t go wrong.

Mr Nice is at cinemas now.
