If your spider-sense was set atingling by the latest trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, prepare yourself for a full on spider rash.

Word comes from ComingSoon.net that Sony Pictures have ambitious plans for their Spider-Man franchise, announcing that a team of five writers and two produces will oversee an expansion of the Spidey universe over a third Amazing Spider-Man film, in addition to a Venom screenplay and The Sinister Six spin-off.

The creative minds of writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard will collaborate to develop a consistent story thread in the expanding franshise, with production to be handled by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.

The announcement also details that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 writers Kurtzman, Orci and Pinkner are working on the screenplay for the third Spidey outing, with Sony Pictures hopeful that Marc Webb will return to direct the third instalment.

Orci, Pinkner and Solomon are also confirmed to be writing a screenplay for Venom, with Kurtzman lined up to direct, while Goddard will focus on all things sinister as he looks to write and direct a The Sinister Six film.

"Until now, we have approached each film as a separate, self-contained entity," producers Arad and Tolmach added. "But with this move, we have the opportunity to grow the franchise by looking to the future as we develop a continuous arc for the story."
