Tim Burton To Direct Live Action Remake Of Dumbo

Disney appear to have forgotten that Dumbo, their classic 1941 animation, is a film about a baby elephant who uses his enormous ears to become airborne, because they’ve announced that they are to film a live action remake.

The man tasked with this problem is Tim Burton, who was confirmed as director to the Wall Street Journal by Disney president of production Sean Bailey.

Dumbo is the latest in a long line of Disney classics to be remade into live action films with Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass and Beauty and the Beast all expected for release in the next couple of years.

Burton is a wise choice to direct after the incredible (financial) success of his 2010 remake of Alice in Wonderland.

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter have cleared their schedules.
