There's action aplenty in the new trailer for The Magnificent Seven

The Western genre has a lot to thank Akira Kurosawa for.

The Japanese director’s works influenced a whole wave of six-shooting action. Possibly one of the most direct was 1961's Yojimbo, remade as spaghetti western classic A Fistful of Dollars, but even that was to pale in significance in terms of legacy to 1954’s Seven Samurai, reworked with cowboy hats for 1960’s The Magnificent Seven, starring the likes of Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen.

Well, 50 plus years on, here’s the remake of the remake, boasting another heavyweight cast that would make the stag do of dreams: Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Den-Zel among them. Magnificent, really.

For those unfamiliar with the original, seven gun men come together to stop a poor village being ransacked by savage thieves, as each man brings a unique skill-set – well, skills which mostly revolve around killing people.

Continuing the theme of former footballers playing gunslingers after Eric Cantona’s turn in The Salvation, Vinnie Jones is reportedly playing one of the villains.

And these guys really are a crazy gang.
