Back in 2009, District 9 surprised us all with its combination of seat-edge action and sharp social commentary and it became one of the few contemporary science fiction films to gain an Oscar nomination for best picture.

Cut to four years later and a lot of you are probably wondering where on earth writer/director Neill Blomkamp has been.

Today gives us our first look at exactly what he's been up to and it looks like it was worth the wait. Elysium is another sci-fi thriller with depth that stars Matt Damon as a man on a mission to take on the wealthy elite who oppress the less privileged. The highly-anticipated film also stars Jodie Foster on lead villain duties.

Hollywood, just shut up and take our money already.

Elysium hits cinemas on September 20
