No Marvel movie is complete without a cameo from comic book god Stan Lee.

In a perfect world, no movie in general would be complete without him cropping up but, the guy has to sleep.

To celebrate the release of Captain America: The First Avenger on Blu-ray and DVD, we've assembled some of his best cinematic appearances.

Captain America: The First Avenger is out on Blu-ray and DVD now

Daredevil

In 2003, he played a man at a crossing who is prevented from stepping out onto the road by a young Matt Murdock. He's also referenced verbally as Mr.Lee, a client who pays his bills in fish.

Hulk

In 2003, he made an appearance as a security guard, alongside Lou Ferrigno, who played the Hulk in the original TV series. His lines were ad-libbed.

Fantastic Four

In 2005, he was given his first chance to play an actual character from the comics. He played mailman Willy Lumpkin and decided to change his line from "Welcome home, Dr. Richards" to "Welcome back to the Baxter Building, Doctor Richards!" just because he can.

Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

In 2007, he made an appearance in the sequel as himself, trying and failing to get into the wedding. It echoes the 60s comic, where two characters, representing Lee and artist Jack Kirby, were also denied entrance to the same wedding.

Iron Man

In 2008, he got confused for Hugh Hefner by Tony Stark. In a DVD easter egg, he claimed that Robert Downey Jr was the perfect choice to play Stark.

The Incredible Hulk

In 2008, his cameo marked the first time he was involved in a significant plot point. He played a man who accidentally ingested some of the Hulk's blood in a drink.

Captain America: The First Avenger

His most recent cameo saw him playing a general who makes a wisecrack. Joe Simon, the original creator of Captain America, was approached to make a cameo as well but he turned it down.
