While this week in December has traditionally revolved around getting excited for Christmas, a bumper selection of 2012 trailers have made us more pumped for the year what comes after.

We've already found our keyboards dripping in saliva after both The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit unleashed visual goodness on our laps and now it's Ridley Scott's turn.

Prometheus is his much-anticipated return to science fiction that has been teased as having some link to the original Alien. While this trailer might not reveal what the link is, it's clear that we're in very similar territory. The dark, grainy look and the clear presence of an otherworldly threat has us frantically willing next summer to hurry up.

The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron and will be landing here on June 1st.
