As the Oscars hit this weekend, they mark the end of one season and signal the beginning of another. Gone are the worthy films about issues and monologues and on the horizon we can see films with things exploding and crashing instead.

One of the summer films we are most excited about is Gareth Edwards' take on Godzilla, which for anyone who's seen his last film Monsters is a thrilling proposition.

After the rather splendid last trailer, we now have an extended look at the epic that offers up some more plot details in and around the mayhem.

The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a lieutenant and Elizabeth Olsen as his wife, as well as Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins in a fascinatingly eclectic cast.

See for yourself below and check back in with us on Friday for our thoughts on some early footage.

Godzilla hits cinemas May 16th
