Fountains of blood. Gratuitous beards. Glorious slow motion. It must be the latest trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire.

Zack Snyder's envisaging of Frank Miller's graphic novel Xerxes looks every inch as epic as 2006's 300. With King Leonidas and his Spartan heroes fallen, Greece is threatened once more by god-king baritone Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his naval fleet, led by Artemisia (Eva Green). It's up to Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) to unite the Greek nation against the invading masses.

We have no idea what's going on in this trailer, but it's certainly quite exciting.

300: Rise of an Empire is due for release 7 March 2014
