Matt Damon Confirms He'll Return As Jason Bourne In 2016

Damon.jpg
It was a role he was, ahem, Bourne to play, and now Matt Damon has confirmed that he’ll be returning to fill the shoes of his titular super spy for a fourth outing.

Another boost to the project, due to begin filming next autumn, is the return of director Paul Greengrass, whose involvement Damon claims was integral to luring him back to the hit franchise based on the Robert Ludlum novels which amassed over $1bn at the box office.

"Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes,” the actor revealed to E! News this weekend, before adding that the release date is slated for 2016 (and surely they’d be missing a trick not releasing it on the 4th of July).

Only time will tell how this affects Universal’s planned sequel to the Jeremy Renner-fronting spin-off Bourne Legacy, though our money is firmly on a crossover of some sort.

Because, let's face it, two amnesiac assassins are always better than one.
