Kevin Bacon Believes That Tremors and Footloose May Exist In The Same universe

1.2.jpg

Big fan of eighties films involving spontaneous dancing and/or man-eating sandworms? Well prepare to have your mind blown into a million tiny pieces.

Roughly a year ago we chanced upon a Reddit post suggesting Footloose and Tremors actually existed in the very same universe (for reasons we’ll delve into in a moment). It was such a chin-stroking prospect that we decided this unlikely theory needed further clarification.

Ideally from the man who connects them both (and by less than 6 degrees): Kevin Bacon.

So then, fast forward to late last week: while speaking to Kev for a forthcoming interview on ShortList.com, we asked the man who played Val McKee in Tremors and Ren McCormack in Footloose as to whether he’d ever heard of the theory.

He hadn’t. So we duly explained:

In short, the town in Footloose has an irrational fear of dancing because dancing causes tremors, which in turn attract graboids.

Mindblown, right? It certainly got Mr Bacon who noticeably excitable at the notion, weighed it up himself:

Okay, that’s hilarious. So what we’re saying is that the worms are attracted to vibrations and they caused a whole lot of damage, therefore the town had to ban dancing in order to stop attracting them?

I’m fully behind that theory, I think it’s great. There you go, we have the ultimate mashup.

And that's not the only Tremors-related news we're giving you: we also quizzed the actor on that long-delayed sequel, and Bacon let slip that we could have a major announcement about within a fortnight:

"We’re discussing some possibilities. In the next few weeks there should be some more news on that."

No, those aren’t sandworms underneath your feet, it’s your body trembling in excitement.

Cop Car starring Kevin Bacon is out on digital HD on 5 October and DVD and Blu-ray on 19 October
