Hopkins Becomes Hitchcock

A cup of tea may be a world away from a human liver-accompanied glass of chianti, but – as this exclusive shot proves – Sir Anthony Hopkins can curdle our blood whatever beverage he’s supping.

The Hannibal star is set to play director Alfred Hitchcock in next year’s biopic Hitchcock, which chronicles the making of Psycho through the eyes of Hitch and his wife Alma (Helen Mirren).

Scarlett Johansson plays Psycho’s star Janet Leigh (below left), and described recreating the iconic shower scene as “terrifying”, because she had “watched The Silence Of The Lambs too many times when I was a kid”.

But she got off lightly – the real Hitch ensured the veracity of Leigh’s performance by hiding dummy corpses in her dressing room…

Hitchcock is at cinemas nationwide from 8 February
