Glorious compilation of the worst special effects

Somewhere in your parents' house, there's a photo album you want nobody to see.

You know the one. It's filled with snapshots of those formative moments no one need witness: those braces offset by the clinically prescribed glasses, the questionable use of hair gel that only served to highlight your greasy complexion - and let's not mention the bowl cut.

We only bring it up in order to give context to the following compilation. The film industry, much like your own journey to maturity, has had moments it would rather forget about - particularly in the region of special effects. The ground-breaking visuals of one decade are the laughing stock of the next. That shark leap that ended Samuel L Jackson in Deep Blue Sea? The movie equivalent of your eyebrow ring. Dwayne Johnson's scorpion appearance in The Mummy Returns? The parallel of your goth phase.

So sure - watch, point and laugh at the woeful effects of these old films, but do so with sympathy, an understanding that we've all been there. And then wonder how bad Jurassic World is going to look in 10 years...
