First Trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Jane Austen: one of Britain's finest writers. An undoubtedly legendary figure, who deserves every bit of praise going for the incredible legacy of her many superb books. But you know what? Being honest? Not enough zombies in them. Not enough at all.

Fortunately, Seth Grahame-Smith was around to correct this, in the form of his 2009 book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which took the 1813 Austen story, added a zombie storyline, quickly becoming a cult classic.

And now, the film version is here, with the first teaser trailer in tow. Frankly, you should be excited. It features Lily James (Downton Abbey) as Elizabeth Bennet and Sam Riley (Control) as Mr. Darcy, alongside Matt Smith, Lena Headley, Bella Heathcote, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth and Suki Waterhouse.

The film's synopsis details how, "A mysterious plague has fallen upon 19th century England, the land is overrun with the undead and feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is a master of martial arts and weaponry. Casting aside personal and social prejudices, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy must unite on the blood-soaked battlefield to rid the country of the zombie menace and discover their true love for one another."

Will it be brilliant? Will it be terrible? We have absolutely no idea, but it's going to be worth a watch either way. Check out the trailer and poster below.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is in cinemas 12 February 2016
