First Look At Jason Momoa’s Aquaman

Untie.jpg
Here’s your first look at Jason Momoa's Aquaman, AKA your new favourite sea-dwelling superhero.

Primed to appear in Zach Snyder's Batman vs Superman alongside those two, more illustrious, DC characters, the uninitiated will largely be in the dark about this chap (save perhaps for a royal spoofing in Family Guy where his fairly unorthodox superpowers were brought into question).

Even the most nerdish of fanboys have long been wary about how a character whose skill-set includes talking to sea life, swimming at great speeds and sporting sparkly leotards would translate in today’s realm of moody Hollywood blockbuster. But it seems Snyder has nailed it.

Tweeting this first-look image of his Aquaman, the director's opted for a darker look than the comic books, closer perhaps to Hercules or a Maori warrior, possibly throwing in some Poseidon for good measure as our man holds our gaze under the tagline ‘Unite The Seven’ (the other six being members of DC’s Justice League, of course). We would suggest that Snyder's vision of Aquaman looks a little closer to Marvel's aquatic character Namor, Prince of Atlantis, but you probably got there before us, right?

He'll also be appearing in his own standalone film at some stage, and on the basis of this image it'll be anything but a washout.

Batman vs Superman will open May 6, 2016
