Ferris Bueller House Sells for $1m

The iconic glass-fronted house featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off has finally been sold, for $1.06m (£632,800).

Located in Highland, Illinois, with the official title of 'The Ben Rose House', it was built in 1953 and originally put on the market in 2009. The initial price was $2.3m, but after a failure to sell, it was taken off sale, treated to some renovation and was recently put back up at the lower price.

It achieved fame by featuring in a famous scene from the cult movie, where Ferris' best friend Cameron Fry finally rebels against his father, with disastrous consequences for Mr Fry's beloved 1961 Ferrari GT California.

The lucky owner has yet to be revealed, but they've clearly got a steal; just remember not to put any expensive cars in that pavilion: the temptation to recreate film history will surely prove too much.
