While the physical similarities don't immediately scream out to us, we certainly like the thought of the Oscar-winning 'Jew Hunter' taking on the role of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in upcoming drama Reykjavik .

The film focuses on a small period in 1986 when Gorbachev and US president Ronald Reagan met in an Icelandic spa to discuss peace between the two nations after the Chernobyl meltdown. Just to make the project even more exciting, Michael Douglas has already signed on to play Reagan opposite the Inglourious Basterds star.

He's not the only actor taking on the role of the ex-president with Alan Rickman also starring as Reagan in The Butler.

Ridley Scott was originally slated to direct Reykjavik but it's now been taken over by Donnie Brasco director Mike Newell. Filming begins in March.

What do you think? Good casting?
