An Exorcist Remake Is Reportedly On The Way

Look away now if you're easily irritated by Hollywood remakes - as this one could enough to make you projectile vomit.

Indeed, The Exorcist, that 1977 classic which opened in cinemas to a collective shriek not heard since the Beatles, and still widely regarded the finest horror film of all time, is reportedly being remade.

According to Deadline, Morgan Creek Studios has hired investment banking group Houlihan Lokey to help sell domestic rights to its library of 78 films - including Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Last of the Mohicans, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, True Romance to name but a few – and that two in particular are already in the pipeline for a remake.

One being baseball comedy Major League, the other of course being William Friedkin's The Exorcist, with Morgan Creek’s CEO Jim Robinson letting slip that ideas were currently being tossed around for both films.

Would an Exorcist remake cause half the rumpus Friedkin's original starring Linda Blair as the head-spinning demon did? Unlikely. Would it benefit from some ‘found-footage’ plot device or overly CGI effects which tend to hamper today’s horrors? Probably not - but since when has common sense counted for anything in Hollywood?

Let's just pray it's not as much of a dud as the sequels.

Those really were the spawn of Satan.
