Since Ben Stiller's style of awkward comedy hasn't been doing so well at the box office lately (see The Watch for evidence), a career reinvention was much needed.

And while this isn't exactly Charlize Theron in Monster, his next film The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, which also sees him behind the camera, is something a bit different at least.

A remake of a loved 40s film, it sees Stiller take the lead in what promises to be a rather confounding fantasy, a cross between Life of Pi and Stranger Than Fiction. It screened for the first time over the weekend and reviews were wildly mized, but with most agreeing that it will appeal to Oscar voters.

After watching this latest trailer, you'll see why..

Sean Penn and Kristen Wiig also star.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty hits cinemas on Boxing Day
