Tom Hardy Is The Bookies Favourite To Be The Next Bond

Tom Hardy for Bond? Stranger casting decisions have happened, and coming off a rip roaring 12 months at the cinema, there are few British actors better placed to play the secret agent than one Tom Hardy.

Yes, it's 'James-Bond-actor-speculation' time again, with British bookmaker BoyleSports reporting the Legend and Mad Max: Fury Road actor as the new front-runner to take over the reins once Daniel Craig hands up his impeccable three-piece navy suit.

“The 'Next James Bond market' has certainly come alive with all the support coming in for Tom Hardy, who is now 4/1 from 6/1 to take over from Daniel Craig,” BoyleSports’ spokesman Liam Glynn said in a statement.

The news follows a recent online kerfuffle over current Bond author Anthony Horowitz’s comments over Idris Elba potentially becoming the first black Bond. Horowitz has now apologized via Twitter for his remarks that Elba is “too street” for the role.

Other bookie favourites for the role are Michael Fassbender, Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom, Dougray Scott, Rupert Friend and Dominic West.

SPECTRE opens in cinemas on 26 October.
