What was your standout moment of 2011?

Probably the premiere of the Inbetweeners film. That was a moment that bowled me over. We’d just made this little film and we had such a laugh and we were all praying that it was going to be successful. Then, at the premiere, it suddenly hit me that it was going to be in the cinema and it wasn’t just us who were excited about it — and then you think, “Oh my God, this is huge.”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

Upstairs Downstairs [due on the BBC in spring], but I’m nervous too. I just hope I’ve done a good job. I’m working with some amazing actors — you step back and watch how it’s done.

What’s your new year’s resolution?

Eat more vegetables? That’s crap isn’t it? I’ve got one — limit my Starbucks intake to three a week. But it’s delicious. I can’t make a resolution I know I can’t do.

What would you like to achieve in 2012?

I’d love to work on a British rom-com. The British do them so well.

Do you think British acting is breaking boundaries?

Yeah, there’s so much brilliant film and TV being produced in this country. We went through a tough patch a few years back when no one really knew what the public wanted. Now, it feels like things are being made where people have taken the time to get it right.
