Not Brian Niznansky's finest hour

Despite the rather obvious exceptions to the contrary – John Snow, Kirsty Wark, George Alagiah, dare we say it, us – you don’t have to be the tastiest yoghurt in the fridge to work in the media.

Such an idea was hilariously spoofed in hilarious newsroom spoof Anchorman. However, sometimes the truth can be stranger and even more surreal than the fiction that was trying to imitate life. Or something.

Take this gullible American broadcaster Brian Niznansky for instance. The word in his NBC subsidiary office, WGBA, is that he will, a la Ron Burgundy, read whatever is put on the teleprompter.

And as his uttering of the classic Steve Carrell ‘I love lamp’ line demonstrates, the brains behind this operation are not wrong.

Don’t expect to see Brian rubbing shoulders with Katie Couric or Bill O’Reilly anytime soon.
