New Record For World's Tightest Parallel Park

New Record For World's Tightest Parallel Park

"Back a bit. Little more. STOP. Edge it forward. Now, right hand down... I told you we should have used the park and ride."

For anyone who's attempted to make their way into the local city centre on a Saturday, the above conversation will be hauntingly familiar. That is unless you're one Han Yue, in which case the challenge of a tight parking space hold no terror at all.

The Chinese stunt driver/parking professional (we're not sure if that's a thing) recently set a new world record for the tightest parallel park ever, perfectly sliding his three door MINI hatchback into a space just eight centimetres longer than that of the MINI.

Han's new record slices 0.6cm off the previous record set by Brit Alastair Moffatt - which requires a driver to slide a car into the space without touching either side of the space, performing the park on dry tarmac. Think of it as threading a needle with another slightly smaller needle. At 30 miles an hour. And the needle is on fire. Or, better still, just watch the video of the record below.
