Airbus prangs jet

Pilots exchange details at JFK

Airbus prangs jet
12 April 2011

A slight bumper on bumper nick between a Citroen DS and a Nissan Sunny tends to be nothing to worry about. The driver in the wrong will wave his cheque book at the problem and no no claims bonuses are bothered.

On the tarmac of one of the world's busiest airports, however, thing are a tad more complex as the pilot of an Air France A380 airbus will testify.

As you can see from the footage the Air France passenger jet clipped the tail a Bombardier CRJ as it taxied to its gate at New York's JFK airport, spinning its little brother in the process.

The incident was captured on video by a passenger on another flight, who either has frightening knowledge of aircraft wingspan and airport parking protocol or was, up until that stage, filming the most boring footage in living memory.

None of the 520 people on the A380 or the 62 aboard the Bombardier were hurt but the megabird has been impounded.
