As the fox hunting debate continues to rage across the globe, we'd like to think that some comic relief comes in the shape of this image, taken in Canada.
The boneheaded beagle failed to spot the fox that was directly behind him, laughing, we'd guess. The dog had strayed too close to a den containing some fox cubs, so their protective parents stood their ground.
Naturalist and photographer Mircea Costina captured the chortlesome scene in a forest north of Montreal.
