In the latest episode of "things that are really, really, ridiculously expensive", we present you with the world's priciest basketball.

The Hermes ball will set you back a whopping $12,900 (£8,284) and it's been created as a stunt to open its refurbished store in Beverly Hills.

Just for comparison, the average Spalding ball used by NBA players comes in at an affordable $169.99 (£109). Somewhat more realistically, only two have been produced.

The ball itself has been made from calfskin and using the same half-stitching technique that's utilised for their famous bags. It also comes in an unusual blue colour.

"It represents the sky, the ocean and all the beautiful pools that are a way of life in L.A. and Southern California," explained Robert Chavez, Hermes U.S. CEO, to The Hollywood Reporter.

Probably wouldn't want to get this one muddy.
