The 146-Year-Old Wood Guitar

The 146-Year-Old Wood Guitar

The 146-Year-Old Wood Guitar
24 June 2014

Vintage guitars have always been popular, for those players looking for warmer, full-bodied sound, but this new series from Fender takes things to a whole new level.

These Special Edition Stratocaster and Telecaster guitars are made using reclaimed wood from obscure US locations. A redwood model uses timber reclaimed from bridges built in California during the Great Depression in the 1930s, while the Eastern Pine version uses wood taken from a Michigan dairy barn built in 1868. The latter is also the same kind of tone wood used my Mr Leo Fender himself to create the first Telecasters.

They're available now for $2,599.99 or, for a cheaper option, you could try turning your shed into a guitar; we're sure it can't be that hard.
