Floating In The City

23 October 2011

Warning; if you’ve overdone it this week now might not be the best time to view this mind-boggling image, such is its hallucinatory effect. Or is that just us?

Put together by mega talented photographer Simon Gardiner and entitled From The Sky Down, this picture (it’s Paris by the way) has evoked all sorts of sensations – weightlessness and falling at a rapid pace being chief among them.

The stunning effect is the result of a photographic technique called vortography. It is composed of kaleidoscopic repetition and is achieved by photographing objects through a triangular arrangement of three mirrors. But we’re sure you knew that.

To be honest, we're not really bothered what methods were employed to capture the image. We just reckon it rocks. And yes, it does remind us of the teaser poster for the forthcoming Batman film, Dark Knight Rises.
