The Office Of The Future Has No Chairs

The Office Of The Future Has No Chairs

The Office Of The Future Has No Chairs
21 January 2015
We hope you’re seated because after reading the following story you will more than likely need to have a little sit down…

Take a look at this frightening concept and you might spot that the future of offices doesn't involve any chairs. Not a single seat; just a load of massive blocks to either lean against or slump on as you tap your laptop keys.

You may also have spotted that one of the workers, using his smartphone, appears to be taking a rest on top of one of the blocks, no doubt an evolution of the rest and recuperation techniques currently used by the savvy Silicon Valley tech firms who offer employees hammock and sleep machines.

A joint project by Dutch firm RAAAF and the University of Groningen, it’s chiefly been designed to lessen the ill-effects associated with numbing one’s backside for hours upon hours every single day; something many of us can surely appreciate.

And with the team behind it encouraging colleagues to switch positions with one another several times a day in the hope that spending more time on your feet will lessen the chance of developing heart disease, it can’t be too bad a thing can it?

We also like the fact it could even double as a BMX park by nightfall. OK, so mainly that.
